Dangal Movie is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language biographical sports drama film directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Aamir Khan, under his banner Aamir Khan Productions with UTV Motion Pictures and Walt Disney Pictures India. The film stars Aamir Khan as Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. The film has been edited by Ballu Saluja.

Dangal Movie Story 

Dangal Movie’s story is loosely based on the real-life story of the Phogat family, following the struggles of father Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler, who is forced to abandon his dreams of winning a gold medal for India in international wrestling after being injured in a freak accident. However, he soon realizes that his daughters have the potential to fulfill his dream and begins to train them in the sport. The film chronicles their journey as they overcome societal pressure and emerge as world-class wrestlers.

Dangal Movie is an extraordinary true story based on the life of Mahavir Singh and his two daughters, Geeta and Babita. The film highlights the importance of women’s empowerment and gender equality. It is an inspirational story that will leave you feeling motivated and hopeful.

The film was released on 23 December 2016 to critical and commercial success. It grossed ₹2.36 billion (US$34 million) in India and ₹1.27 billion (US$18 million) in China, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film in China. Worldwide, it grossed ₹7.32 billion (US$110 million). Dangal emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film ever, as well as the second-highest-grossing non-English film of all time.

The film won a number of awards, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie. It was also nominated for Best Film, Best Actor (Aamir Khan), Best Supporting Actor (Sakshi Tanwar), Best Supporting Actress (Fatima Sana Shaikh), and Best Editing (Ballu Saluja) at the 62nd Filmfare Awards.

The film’s soundtrack was composed by Pritam, with lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The song “Dhaakad” was composed by Shantanu Moitra and sung by Raftaar.
