Pooja Chopra is a 2009 Miss India World winner. She was the only beauty pageant winner in India to win the ‘Beauty With A Purpose title at the Miss World beauty pageant representing India. She made her Debut in Bollywood as a lead actress in the movie Fashion.

Pooja Chopra’s life before

Pooja Chopra was born on May 3, 1985, in Kolkata, West Bengal. Her mother raised her as her father abandoned both of them since he didn’t want a girl. Her mother, Neera Chopra, had left her father, and she moved to Mumbai with her and her elder sister Shubhra Chopra. She was a single mother, so she worked hard and brought her kids all by herself. Pooja completed both her schooling and later graduated from Pune.

How Pooja Chopra begins her career

It all started when Pooja Chopra won the beauty pageant Femina Miss India East title on February 17, 2009, in Kolkata. Later she won many beauty titles like Miss Beautiful Smile, Nakshatra Miss Sparkling Beauty, Miss Catwalk, Miss Perfect 10, and Talwarkars Best Body and got direct entry as a top 10 finalist on Femina Miss India 2009. The same year, she has crowned the Pantaloons Miss India World 2009.

Pooja Chopra Acting Career: 

Pooja Chopra made her acting debut in Bollywood in Madhur Bhandarkar’s films Fashion and Heroine as the leading lady. Next, she acted as a lead actress in the action film Vipul Shah Commando opposite Vidyut Jammwal. She had also featured in a short film in Neeraj Pandey’s love story, Ouch. Chopra made her Debut in the south film industry in Ponnar Shankar in the year 2011, where she played the role of a princess opposite Prashanth Thiagarajan. Pooja Chopra won the beauty pageant title, i.e., ‘Beauty With a Purpose, and she won $10000 and donated that money to the ‘Nanhi kali charitable project on December 12, 2009. It was an NGO to which she donated her money to help poor little girls who are fighting against poverty. 

Pooja also donated her earnings from her movie Aiyaary to Martyred Soldiers, who were the victims of the 2019 Pulwama attack. She also initiated the ‘Happy Heart India’ campaign for underprivileged children in 2018, along with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. Pooja got an opportunity to interact with the audience at a TED talk about the destiny of an abandoned girl child.
