Thappad Movie Story
The film starts with a montage of married couple Amrita (Taapsee Pannu) and Vikram (Pavail Gulati) going about their lives. They are shown to be a happy and content couple. However, one day, at a party, Vikram slaps Amrita hard across the face in front of everyone, for no apparent reason. This act causes a crack in their relationship.
As Amrita tries to make sense of what happened, she realizes that Vikram has been taking her for granted all this while and has been disrespectful towards her. She decides to file for divorce. However, Vikram tries to make up for his mistake and begs Amrita to forgive him. But she is unwilling to do so.
The film then follows Amrita as she tries to rebuild her life post-divorce. She moves out of her house and starts living on her own. She also starts working again after a long break. The film ends with Amrita and Vikram meeting each other in court, where they are finalizing their divorce. As they walk away from each other, we see a montage of all the happy moments they shared together.
